Bripda Seri Santoso, also known as the “Polisi Rimba” (Jungle Police), exemplifies dedication from the forest and back to the forest. This phrase perfectly encapsulates his commitment to serving the indigenous community of the Suku Anak Dalam in Kabupaten Bungo, Jambi. As a proactive recruitment graduate of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), Bripda Seri is determined to improve the lives of the Suku Anak Dalam, striving to provide them with better education and welfare for the future.

Teaching Literacy and Fostering Hope

In a program called Hoegeng Corner on detikPagi, Bripda Seri shared his story of serving the Suku Anak Dalam and explained how he earned the title “Polisi Rimba” as a native of the community. He expressed his focus on protecting the forest dwellers, especially the Suku Anak Dalam, who reside deep in the jungle.

One of Bripda Seri’s primary initiatives is teaching children how to read and write. This educational effort, conducted in Kabupaten Bungo, has garnered enthusiastic support from the parents.

Local Outreach and Support

Teaching basic literacy skills to the children of the Suku Anak Dalam in Kampung Kelukup, Desa Dwi Karya Bhakti, Kecamatan Pelepat, Kabupaten Bungo, is a heartfelt mission for Bripda Seri. Since 2022, he has been actively involved in educating and raising awareness about the importance of education among the local residents.

Bripda Seri conducts these classes after his regular duties, typically in the late afternoon when the children have finished school. Around 15 children regularly participate in the lessons held in a building provided by the local government.

Community Support and Encouragement

Despite often teaching alone, Bripda Seri receives occasional assistance from Bhabinkamtibmas (Police Officers assigned to communities) and voluntary organizations. The teaching sessions, which occur three to four times a week, cater to the learning moods and willingness of the Suku Anak Dalam children, ensuring a compassionate approach to education.

Bripda Seri is grateful for the support extended by the Bungo Police Resort (Polres Bungo), which provides learning materials such as books, pencils, and blackboards for the educational activities.
